Not Myself

Well, I know it's been 6 months since I last posted...but I really haven't been myself lately. I've been trying to do a lot of soul searching to figure out who I am, what I want out of my life, and where my life has been heading. I know that there are things in my life that aren't making me happy, and the problem is sticking up for myself and following through with the decisions I need to make. I don't do well with change but I won't allow myself to continue to be unhappy either. I need to find out who I am, what makes me smile, and start enjoy the simple things in life again.

Everyone can tell me what I need to do, but ultimately it is up to me to decide what path is best for me to go down. Yes, I know that sometimes the path I choose is going to be rocky. Yes, I know that there may be detours along the way. Yes, I realize that there will be others on this path to help me find my way. The path I have been on has come to a fork in the road...and now I must make a decision on which way to go. I am confused and scared and excited all at once.

I have always looked out for and cared about others' feels because, to me, that was more important than what I wanted. Well, I have decided that it's time for me to look out for me. That doesn't mean that I don't care about other peoples' feelings, but if I can't make myself happy and love myself...I can not make other people happy and show them love and caring and compassion the way they deserve.

I'm sorry if this post is a little sad or upsetting. I think I just needed to have some of my thoughts typed up to help motivate me. I know I can do this! I am stronger than I give myself credit for! And, God wouldn't be having me make these decisions if it wasn't that I needed a change!

What should I talk about first?????

Happy Sunday everyone!!! It's beautiful here today...but of course I am inside cleaning, decorating, and crafting. I've done a little rearranging since I posted pictures last time, but not too much to have to go back and show all of you.

First, let me show the drysink/washstand that I am using as a television stand at the moment. This thing should have probably been used as firewood with the way it looked when I got it! It had no hardware, one roller on the leg, soooooo much water damage, missing wood in the drawer and the back, and smelled of musty and moldy grossness. I took it to my dad to see what we could do with it...and he looked at me like I was nuts wanting to do anything but threw it away!! As he always does, my dad worked his magic!!!! He replaced wood, sanded, painted, stained, and put on new hardware (my mom picked out the hardware). The paint color is called Brownstone by Olde Century Colors. I got the paint marked down cheap and figured I would use it eventually!! I think it turned out great and am extremely happy with it!!! What do you think?

Do you want to see my new cupboard that I purchased??? I love, love, love this piece!!!!! To me, words can not describe this cupboard...it is just too gorgeous! See the drawer at the bottom???? It's made out of an old cheesebox!!!!

Okay, just wanted to show this...not sure if it will stay like this for very long or not! But, do you see my new lover's knot tiers in the background? I purchased them at 50% off because the store owner said the company will not be making them in tab tops anymore!!!

Well, if you are a reader of my blog...you may already know that I love canning jars!! I purchased these beauties a while back and never showed them. I got really good deals on them at a flea market. I know the pictures are a little blurry and it's a little hard to tell the colors. The first set is a periwinkle blue color. The next set is a dark amber. And, the third set is red!!! I'm saving up to purchase a green set and an amethyst set...but those are probably going to cost me more than all these sets combined!!!

Time for my new obsession...Judy Condon books!!!!! Oh my!!! If you haven't looked at or seen her books, then you need to check them out! So many primitive display ideas...I drool with every page I look at!!!

Alright, that is all I have for you today! Hope everyone has a wonderful day!!!

Cold Weather Go Away!! I am soooo ready for SPRING!!

I'm not sure what it is doing where you are at, but here in Central Ohio it is raining and cold (possible snow showers tonight)!!!!! I am so ready for the warmer spring weather already...this little teasing thing that Mother Nature is doing is not fair! To make it feel a little more like it is spring outside, I have started decorating my living room with flowers, bunnies, chicks, and brighter colors.

Before I show the pictures of what I have done so far, I wanted to show you another bunny I made using an Olde Homestead Barn pattern. I forgot to take pictures of him before I took him to the store...so the shop owner let me take pictures there!!! I call him Fluffy (the pattern is called Who you callin' Fluffy?). I think he turned out adorable!!!!!!

Now for some pictures of a few areas I have managed to finish decorating. I might have gone a little overboard with the flowers in certain areas...but I love the way it looks!!

This is my little entry way to my tiny apartment. I purchased this cute little guy at one of my favorite stores called Buggy Seat Antiques. She has the most amazing primitive antiques and handmade things I have ever seen!

The entry way leads into the living/dining room area (haven't done anything to the dining room area yet!). At the corner of the living room, I have arranged some old wooden boxes to make a table area for a light. The Sailer Duckie and his pull toy bunny (see him on the table??) were purchased from Robin of Bird In The Hand Primitives. The bunny on a spindle is another one that I made for myself (see previous post) using a Sweetpea's Primitives pattern. The redish-brown piece of furniture you see behind the bunny spindle is a drysink/washstand that my dad reworked for me (pictures of that to come later!). I love my wooden box that hold my Mercantile Gatherings, Country Samplers, and Create & Decorate Magazines.

On to my Jelly Cupboard!! I think I told all of you about my Jelly Cupboard when I first started blogging...but if not, my wonderful daddy built this for me!! He made the panals on the door removable so if I wanted I could replace with punched tin later. I'm not quite sure I am happy with how each shelf turned out, but for now it will do. The tall candle stand next to the cupboard only cost me $20.00!!!!

Okay, so those are the areas I have finished so far. I promise when I get more done, I will post some more pictures. Here is my check off list of things I want to share with you within the next couple of weeks:

1. The rest of my spring decorating.
2. My new cupboard I purchased (I love, love, love it!!!!).
3. The wonderful drysink/washstand that I am using as a television stand.
4. Crafts I have been working on.
5. My new haircut (hopefully I can find some good before pictures??).
6. My newly found obsessions!!!

More to come soon!!!!

It's about time!!!

Okay, okay...I know it's been like 3 months since I last posted, but I really haven't had much to say lately. Crafting has been slow, work has been busy, and I had a severe cold twice in the past few months that drained me of any energy I had!

Here are a few things I made and sold to Salt Creek Mercantile. These items are listed on her website for sale if any of you are interested.

These eggs were made using a pattern by Tennessee Ridge Primitives. I then coated them in glass glitter for a sugared egg look.

This bunny on a spindle was created from a free pattern by Sweetpea's Primitives.

I made a couple other things for Easter, but I forgot to get pictures of them...so if I can get the shop owner to take some pics for me, then I will post them.

I hope everyone has been doing well, and I promise to post more again soon. I just wanted to let you all know that I am still alive and well, and yes I am still trying to keep up with my crafting!!!

Happy St. Patty's Day!!!!!!!
