Okay, it is finally time! I have had a blog for a couple of months...posted once...then deleted it. So, this is my first official post on my new blog! I am hoping to use this blog more for my love of primitive decorating and creating than for anything else, but I know all too well that I will occassionally post about things going on in my life that aren't related to primitives (extra bonus for my readers...hehe!).
So, who wants to know how I got interested in primitive decorating and crafting??? I have to admit that my love of primitives has been a work in progress! My mom started taking me to craft shows and craft peddlers when I was still in a stroller. She decorated more country when I was growing up and didn't switch to primitive until I was in my last few years of high school. I moved into this apartment and it was almost entirely covered in wood paneling. I wasn't allowed to paint it and the place seemed so dark and dingy...so what was I going to do? Well, I still hadn't gained a love of the primitive decorating style so I choose to do more of a lodge theme with some primitive accents. Some primitive accents led to more and then to more until my entire place was switched from lodge to primitive...now, I absolutely love primitive things (the dirtier, the grungier, the better!!!). Now the kicker. Primitive decorating can be expensive when it comes to the handmade items! I got a few free patterns off the internet and decided to try my hand at making some of the things myself. Low and behold...they turned out great (according to "my critics"...my mom and my SIL)! So with a little encouragement from "my critics", I took a few pictures of items I have made to a shop and started selling things. I'm still low-key when it comes to the items I sell because, well I don't know how to use a sewing machine! Every item I make is hand-stitched by me.
That's the quick version of how I got started. You will learn more about me and my crafts through my posts eventually. Check back often because I am going to try and post as much as I can!!!

If primitive equals dirty and grungy, then I (and most guys) are experts!
Good luck with your decorating/creative adventure.
